Samantha Maxis
The daughter of Ludvig Maxis, whose connection to the Aether shapes the original saga, and who returns in a central role in the Dark Aether timeline.
Overview
Samantha Maxis spans both sagas and most of the mode’s history: the child in the announcer’s chair, the voice behind “Fetch me their souls”, and — in the reset universe — a grown BND agent whose exposure of Projekt Endstation starts the entire Dark Aether story. Julie Nathanson voices the adult; the child spent decades as the game’s most famous unseen character.
The girl in the pyramid
Trapped with the hellhound Fluffy by Richtofen’s betrayal in 1945, teleported to Griffin Station, and drawn into the MPD, she controlled the zombies from Der Riese onward — until Richtofen’s Grand Scheme swapped their bodies on the Moon. Freed at Origins and cleansed by Monty, she rode out the saga’s end in the House, and walked out of the Dark Aether with young Eddie in Tag der Toten’s epilogue into an uncorrupted universe: the reset the modern story stands on.
The agent
That universe’s Samantha grew up without her memories: Heidelberg mathematician, BND officer, the whistleblower behind Requiem, thrown into the Dark Aether at Outpost 25 and rescued changed — telekinetic, purple-eyed, and finally the one who forced the Forsaken into containment at the cost of her own freedom. Black Ops 6 closes her story secondhand: per Reckoning, the Forsaken claims he consumed her in captivity, and the “rescue Samantha” mission that drove the season was S.A.M.’s deception. Her legacy persists anyway — in the AI wearing her essence, and in a daughter she never met.
