Main Quest

Main Quest

Pest Control

Pest Control is a kung-fu picture told in three boss fights: prove yourself to Pam Grier, follow a freed rat through the city’s cages, and beat the Rat King — Arthur McIntosh, the financier who drank the wrong flask — three times, taking an organ each time. The Eye finds hidden symbols, the Brain commands blue-eyed zombies, the Heart throws like a grenade, and the final sewer battle spends all three against him in any order. Pam lands the killing blow with the katana. Soloable; the third Soul Key piece is the prize.

The full write-up

Shaolin Shuffle is Wyler’s third film: 1972 New York, all disco lights and dojo wisdom, where the four actors climb out of a subway car into a kung-fu picture. The trapped celebrity is Pam Grier, the Shaolin Sister of the Black Cat Dojo — and unlike most of Wyler’s prisoners, she spends the map teaching you to fight.

The city

From the subway spawn the map opens through uptown streets, rooftops, a park and the multi-level Inferno disco to the Pink Cat club and a second station — with the sewers, and the Rat King’s lair, beneath everything. Chi-broken doors double as fast-travel shortcuts across the district.

Power

Four generators — spawn station, Inferno roof, the park and the second subway — and all four must run before the sewers open.

Pack-a-Punch

The route runs through the Pink Cat: a flyer opens the club, a token fished from under the sewer perk machine opens its back room, and a film reel repairs the projector whose wall-portal leads to the upgrade room — thirty seconds a visit, in the anthology’s house style.

Chi over guns

The map’s wonder weapon is your hands. From round five, Pam Grier grants one of four Shaolin styles — Tiger’s vortex, Crane’s freeze, Dragon’s fire spirit, Snake’s skeletal ally — each climbing four tiers from a chi strike through splitting shurikens to an ultimate. Steel comes later: the Kirisute Gomen katana unlocks on the dojo wall after the quest, and a long side-quest earns the nunchaku.

Special enemies

Roller-skating Divas own the special rounds and ninja zombies drop from the rooftops, but the map belongs to the Rat King — Arthur McIntosh, a disgraced financier who drank the wrong glowing flask in the sewers and merged with the swarm.

The main quest: “Pest Control”

Three Rat King fights punctuate a quest of caged rats, Morse-coded phone calls, movie posters and a rooftop letter cipher — each victory yielding an organ: the Eye, the Brain, the Heart. The final sewer battle spends all three against him in any order, and in the ending it is Pam Grier who lands the killing blow with the katana. Soloable; the third Soul Key piece is the prize.

Perks

The candy machines add Deadeye Dewdrops to the line-up here, and Mahjong tiles collected in threes build the map’s gadget arsenal — sentries, boom boxes, and a lava lamp with opinions.
