The Archon’s quest rebuilds the shattered Pack-a-Punch, sets the Relic Mirror beside it, and performs the surgery the whole arc promised: severing Kortifex from Wolfram Von List. It was Kortifex’s plan all along — free of his host, he talks the Construct into crowning him the Archon, and the boss fight Treyarch billed as the mode’s biggest closes Vanguard Zombies. The quiet ending happens in a sealed Stalingrad room, where Gabriel Krafft learns his wife is long dead, shoots Von List, and walks out three days later into the rest of the saga.
The Archon closes Vanguard Zombies where Terra Maledicta opened it — the Egyptian desert and the Corrupted Lands, rebuilt as a proper round-based map for the finale. Three wonder weapons share the sandbox (Ray Gun, Wunderwaffe DG-2, Decimator Shield), and the stakes are stated in the title: the Construct, a living Dark Aether entity that crowns the worthy, is about to be talked into crowning Kortifex.
Kortifex shattered the Temple’s Pack-a-Punch with a spell that also killed the last of Die Wahrheit’s men; rebuilding it is the quest’s opening act, and the Relic Mirror placed beside it performs the arc’s long-promised surgery — severing Kortifex from Wolfram Von List.
The severing was Kortifex’s plan all along: discarded, Von List is teleported into Krafft’s sealed Stalingrad room, while the operators face the Construct’s three trials — Mindfulness, Resilience, Sacrifice — and then Kortifex crowned as the Archon, a boss Treyarch billed as being on a scale the mode had rarely seen. His corpse falls into the deep Dark Aether, dead in 1944.
The quiet ending belongs to the sealed room: Von List reveals that Krafft’s wife died long ago, her letters forged — and Krafft shoots him. Three days locked in with the corpse yield the missing Tome page and an exit, and the demonologist walks into the post-war world that will hand him an amnesiac boy named Eddie, a CIA program, and a death in an Avalon castle forty-seven years later.
