The Final Reich’s casual quest — "Fireworks", retrieve the artifact — is WWII Zombies’ statement piece: power the village, build the Tesla Gun, reroute Geistkraft to the tower and stand through the lightning-rod defense, then bring down the batteries from Heinz Richter’s zeppelin and calibrate the Voice of God to free the hilt of Barbarossa’s sword. The Panzermörder answers — a flesh-and-iron colossus with Klaus Fischer fused alive into its chest — and dies magnetised to the zeppelin it came from. A separate hardcore quest on the same map, "Dark Reunion", demands all four Tesla variants and ends with Klaus briefly, unbearably, saved. Both are soloable.
The Final Reich is Sledgehammer’s horror-toned rebuild of the formula: the Bavarian mining village of Mittelburg, where salt miners dug up the hilt of Frederick Barbarossa’s sword and the Nazis dug up something worse — Geistkraft, the energy that raises the dead. An MFAA art-recovery unit, callsign Raven — Marie Fischer, Drostan Hynd, Olivia Durant and Jefferson Potts, played by Katheryn Winnick, David Tennant, Elodie Yung and Ving Rhames — goes in after the artifact, and after Marie’s brother.
Power is a ritual in three acts: open three gas valves around the village, ignite the pilot light over the covered well in the square — a blast that opens the tunnel and lets the first Pests crawl out — then descend and throw the generator switch. Two further timed switches, hit in quick succession in the Morgue and the Laboratory, crack the salt mine below.
The upgrade machine sits caged in the sewers. Press the red button beside it to open the three disposal tubes topside, ride each one, and press the button at the end of each run; three buttons lift the cage. WWII prices its upgrade steeply — 5,000 Jolts — and sells upgraded ammo separately.
The Tesla Gun is built, not found: escort the Geistkraft Transfer Device to the Laboratory for the barrel and the Morgue for the core — the core pickup summons a Brenner, whose severed head becomes the map’s all-purpose secret-reading tool. Four buildable variants named for the weapons of Barbarossa’s guard — Reaper, Hurricane, Bloodthirst, Midnight — each demand their own battery hunt.
Perks are Blitz here, paid in Jolts and applied by electric shock: Lebenblitz to get up faster, Kugelblitz for the guns, Schnellblitz for the reload, Laufenblitz for the legs, Faustblitz for the fists, Schildblitz for a discharge on reload. Geistschild armor machines cover what the tonics do not.
The bestiary is WWII’s own: armless sprinting Pests with a dedicated round every few waves, club-armed Wüstlings that charge when shot, flamethrower Brenners with a fuel-tank weak point, and Bombers hauling explosives through the mine. The Panzermörder waits at the end.
The casual quest, "Fireworks", routes power to the tower, defends the lightning rods, brings down Heinz Richter’s zeppelin batteries and calibrates the Voice of God to free the hilt — then faces the Panzermörder, a flesh-and-iron colossus with Klaus Fischer fused alive into its chest, destroyed by strapping charged batteries to its back. The hardcore "Dark Reunion" layer adds all four Tesla variants, hidden safes and the Red Talon sword, and ends with Klaus briefly restored and choosing the pilot light. Both are soloable, and both award trophies.
Klaus Fischer found the hilt and called the authorities like a good citizen; Doctor Straub and Gruppenführer Richter arrived, a snapped cable raised the first two dead men, and Mittelburg became a laboratory. Marie engineered the entire Allied mission to save her brother, and the ending gives her the artifact but not the man. Straub burns the village and moves on — into The Darkest Shore and the rest of WWII’s five-map hunt for the remaining pieces of Barbarossa’s sword.
