MWZ tells its story in Acts, each tiered mission chain ending in an isolated story mission on its own clock: Act One retrieves the defecting Dr. Jansen from Terminus Outcomes territory; Act Two builds her Aetherium Neutralizer; Act Three assaults Zakhaev’s stronghold, where the device kills the great Aether Worm Orcus — and the portal it opens takes Jansen instead. Season One’s Act Four, "Contact", follows her into the Entity’s lair, with later seasons continuing through the Dark Aether rifts.
Urzikstan is Zombies as an extraction shooter: up to twenty-four players in squads share one CIA-quarantined exclusion zone for about forty-five minutes, then the Aether Storm swells and everyone has fifteen minutes to exfil or lose whatever they carried in. The outbreak is man-made — Victor Zakhaev’s raid on a basement holding Grigori Weaver’s corpse and vials of Aetherium ends with a shattered vial and a city of the dead — and Operation Deadbolt, with Sergei Ravenov among its ranks, is the containment answer.
Threat scales inward through three zones — low, medium, high — with contracts, Aether nests, mercenary strongholds and four Warlord fortresses scattered across all of them. From Season One, Tier III contracts pay Sigils that open Dark Aether Rifts: thirty-minute pocket dimensions with their own contracts, and an Elder-Sigil hardcore variant at half the time.
Machines stand in the world: three tiers of Pack-a-Punch, nine Perk-a-Colas from Jugger-Nog to Tombstone, mystery boxes, wall-buys and ammo mods. The persistence loop is the hook — schematics unlock permanent crafting, acquisitions ride out in the rucksack, and up to three insured weapon slots come back after a cooldown even when a run does not.
The story runs in Acts — rescuing the defecting Dr. Jansen, building her Aetherium Neutralizer, and assaulting Zakhaev’s stronghold, where the device kills the great Aether Worm Orcus and the portal it opens takes Jansen instead. Season One’s Act Four follows her into the Entity’s lair. A second worm, Greylorm, waits as a hidden summonable world boss for squads with four USB sticks and steady nerves.
The Dark Aether roster — Manglers, Mimics, Disciples, Mega Abominations — shares the zone with Terminus Outcomes mercenaries, their Wheelsons and helicopters, making Urzikstan the rare Zombies map where some of the hostiles shoot back.
