wonder weapon

Concussive wind blast that clears everything in front of you.
A Soviet weapon codenamed "Project Thunder", developed by the Ascension Group under Gersh — an Ascension radio corrects Richtofen’s assumption that Maxis built it.
The Thundergun fires wind. One blast of compressed air erases everything directly in front of you — a one-shot kill at close range, a bowling strike at distance that flings survivors flat — which makes it the mode’s definitive panic button: the weapon you save, not the weapon you use. It debuted at Black Ops’ launch on Kino der Toten and Ascension, fired from the hip because sights would be beside the point.
Its constraint is the magazine: two shots, twelve in reserve, and a reload only when fully empty. Points are capped too — a full-horde blast pays a maximum few hundred, so it actively costs you the economy a wall gun would earn. Pack-a-Punched into the Zeus Cannon, it doubles to four shots with a wider blast, and the trade stays the same: total safety, terrible income.
Always the Mystery Box: Kino der Toten, Ascension, and the Black Ops edition of Nacht der Untoten, plus their Zombies Chronicles remasters and Revelations. Tag der Toten added a way to earn one free from an Ascension Group chest. The Ascension main quest requires the Zeus Cannon for its finale, firing it into the black hole that frees Gersh — the weapon returned, in the end, to the people who built it. Black Ops’ campaign hides a usable one in the mission "Numbers" behind a cassette-tape secret.
