Main Quest

Bye-Bye, Dark Aether

Liberty Falls’ main quest, "Bye-Bye, Dark Aether," is about containing the dimensional breach over the town — the same incursion unfolding concurrently at Terminus. It is the approachable of the two Black Ops 6 launch quests: build the Jet Gun, assemble a collection device with its suction, fill and defend Aether canisters at the storms, then hold the church through a three-wave lockdown that ends with the Abomination. Fully soloable, and a common first BO6 quest completion.

The full write-up

Liberty Falls is one of Black Ops 6’s two launch maps, a bright, walkable West Virginia town under a Dark Aether breach. It is deliberately the lighter, more open of the pair — beginner-friendly, built around ascender ziplines and a play-your-way pace — set alongside the darker Terminus island, and its outbreak is happening at the same time as that one.

Power and getting around

Liberty Falls has no power switch. Unlike Terminus, which makes you activate three generators, the town simply has the lights on from the start; you gate your own progress by spending Essence to open doors and barriers, and neither the perks nor Pack-a-Punch depends on a power step. Ascenders dotted around town let you cross the map quickly.

Pack-a-Punch

Pack-a-Punch sits inside the Hilltop Church on the west side of town. Getting to it is a matter of spending Essence to open a chain of doors up to the chapel and unlocking the dimensional membrane at its forecourt — there is no build step, just the route and the points.

Wonder weapon: the Jet Gun

The Liberty Falls wonder weapon is the Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 — the Jet Gun, returning from Cold War — not the DRI-11 Beamsmasher, which belongs to Terminus. You build it from parts during the main quest, or pull it from the Mystery Box, and it can be Pack-a-Punched up to three times to extend its fire time. As on every Black Ops 6 map, the Ray Gun can also turn up in the Box.

Black Ops 6 systems

Black Ops 6 keeps the classic perk-cola system and brings back GobbleGums as consumables, then layers its modern kit on top: custom loadouts, an armour-plate system, Salvage spent at the Arsenal to raise weapon rarity and craft, five Field Upgrades and five Ammo Mods, and Augments that let you customise perks, field upgrades and ammo mods. Omnimovement — the game’s omnidirectional sprint, slide and dive — applies here as everywhere.

Perks

Dedicated machines around town cover Jugger-Nog, Quick Revive, Speed Cola, Stamin-Up, PhD Flopper and Melee Macchiato. Deadshot Daiquiri and Elemental Pop have no fixed machine on the map — you get them from Der Wunderfizz, which appears atop the Savings & Loan bank later in a game.

Special enemies

Alongside the horde you face Vermin — small, fast swarm enemies — and Manglers, mini-bosses with an arm cannon that start appearing around round 11. The map’s elite is the Abomination, a large multi-headed beast that fires an electric beam and charges; it arrives a few rounds later and is the final enemy of the main quest. The Amalgam and Parasites some players expect are Terminus enemies, not Liberty Falls.

The main quest: “Bye-Bye, Dark Aether”

The main quest, "Bye-Bye, Dark Aether," is about containing the outbreak in the town. In outline you build the Jet Gun and then a second device with it, fill and defend Aether canisters at Dark Aether storms, work through a projector step, and finish with a lockdown at the church — three escalating waves that culminate in the Abomination, which you bring down by destroying its heads as it attacks.

Story

Liberty Falls continues the Dark Aether saga that Cold War began, running concurrently with the dimensional breach over on Terminus. Where Terminus is the darker, more elaborate launch map, Liberty Falls is the approachable entry point into Black Ops 6 Zombies, and its quest is the story of sealing the incursion in one small American town.
