Perk-a-Cola

Widow’s Wine machine render

Widow's Wine

Taking damage or meleeing releases webbing that traps and damages nearby zombies. Grenades are replaced with Widow’s Wine web grenades.

Also: Widows, WW

First served: Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Overview

Widow’s Wine is Black Ops III’s premier defensive perk and, at 4,000 points, the most expensive classic Perk-a-Cola ever bottled. It earns the price four ways at once: any zombie that lands a hit triggers a web burst that freezes attackers in place for long seconds; your grenades become sticky web grenades with the same effect; webbed kills can drop blue spider power-ups that restock them; and your knife gains webbing and enough bonus damage to one-shot through the early rounds.

The economy is the catch — both the melee webs and the grenades draw from the same stock of four, so a careless round can spend your insurance. Bosses drain it fastest: a Panzersoldat or Margwa detonates the web on contact but cannot be trapped by it.

It debuted on Shadows of Evil and stood on every Black Ops III DLC map — Zetsubou even hands one free for killing the giant spider — but its most consequential role was as a substitute: with the dolphin dive gone from the engine, Widow’s Wine replaced PhD Flopper across the Chronicles remasters of Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon and Origins. Its return was announced for Black Ops 7’s final season.
