wonder weapon
Shadows of Evil’s buildable black-hole wonder weapon.
The Apothicon Servant is not a gun so much as a captive creature that happens to work like one: aim it and it exhales a purple black hole that drags in and kills every zombie in reach, any round, before detonating. One shot loaded at a time, reloaded by feeding the thing, and in Shadows of Evil it answers to a different Apothicon name for each of the four characters who carry it.
In Shadows of Evil it is built free from the Apothicons’ own anatomy — a Margwa heart, a Margwa tentacle from the richest Harvest Pods, and Xenomatter shed by Parasites — and building it also seeds the Mystery Box with copies. Famously, it cannot be upgraded there: the trigger was cut from the map, a fact confirmed on the record, with the ghost variant’s name still buried in the files.
Revelations finally grants the upgrade: shoot five hidden sky panels and Pack-a-Punch it into Estoom-oth, whose holes last longer, pull harder and burst bigger. There it graduates from crowd control to quest tool — the map’s finale, For The Good Of All, needs Estoom-oth to extract and absorb Sophia’s remains from the drifting wreck of Nacht der Untoten.
