Main Quest

High Maintenance

Die Rise’s main quest lights the second of the story’s three towers, and the Tower of Babble choice carries straight over: serve Maxis or Richtofen, four players either way, on Original difficulty. Shared steps run from golden rings atop moving elevators to sniper shots into the roof dragons’ mouths; the sides then diverge — a Sliquifier blood-rite and zombie-flinging Trample Steams for Richtofen, the Buddha room and a resurrecting Ballistic Knife for Maxis — before both finish reading Mahjong tiles and striking the tower’s posts with Galvaknuckles.

Difficulty: Expert

The full write-up

Die Rise turned Zombies sideways. Two crumbling Chinese skyscrapers — plus the sheared-off top of a third wedged upside-down between them — tower over fog that hides the ground, and everything the mode had done horizontally suddenly runs on the vertical: broken elevator shafts to descend, mattress-cushioned jumps between buildings, and falls that end runs instantly. It is the second Victis chapter, released in the Revolution pack under its comic-book title "Great Leap Forward".

Power

A conventional switch, inconveniently placed: ride the freight elevator down its shaft from spawn, cross to the second tower, and the power room is a gap-jump and a few corridors in. Power wakes the map’s electronics and, crucially, six of the seven perk elevators.

Pack-a-Punch rides the lifts

The machines will not stay put. Perks and Pack-a-Punch ride inside the towers’ passenger elevators, each cycling between floors with half-minute pauses — so upgrading a weapon means learning the lift schedule, riding on the cars through the shafts, or spending an elevator key to summon one. The Pack-a-Punch is always somewhere in the power-side building’s four elevators; which one is a fresh mystery every game.

Wonder weapon: the Sliquifier

The Sliquifier is a buildable wonder weapon — four parts near the power room, assembled on the workbench there. Its purple goo kills on contact and chains from zombie to zombie, capable of erasing a whole train with one shot, and the puddles it leaves turn floors into banana peels for the dead and the living alike.

Perks

Six perks ride the elevators: Quick Revive (the only one working before power), Jugger-Nog, Speed Cola, Double Tap II, Mule Kick — and the debuting Who’s Who, which spawns a doppelganger of you on a down and hands you the controls, pistol in hand, to go revive your own body. A PhD Flopper machine is visible on the map, permanently out of reach, and Treyarch knew exactly what they were doing.

Jumping Jacks

The special round belongs to the Jumping Jacks — crawling, teleporting horrors wreathed in electric rings that ambush from walls and ceilings. Clearing their round pays a Max Ammo; clear it without a single missed shot and the last one also drops a Random Perk Bottle, one of the mode’s strictest and most satisfying challenges.

The main quest: “High Maintenance”

The second pylon must be lit, and the Maxis-versus-Richtofen fork carries straight on from TranZit: four players, shared opening steps — golden rings atop moving elevators, floor symbols, sniper shots into the roof dragons’ mouths — then a side chosen. Richtofen demands a Sliquifier blood-rite and Trample Steams flinging zombies at the tower; Maxis wants the Buddha room, a resurrecting Ballistic Knife, and bouncing spheres. Both end reading Mahjong tiles and punching the tower’s posts with Galvaknuckles, and the tower lights blue or orange accordingly.

Story

Richtofen teleports Victis to the towers to do his work — and the intro shows what failure costs, as a wiped party snaps back to the spawn with fading memories and a nagging sense of having stood there before. Between broadcasts about airborne 115 and Stuhlinger’s voices, the crew lights the second of three towers; canonically it is Maxis’s side they serve, and Buried waits to collect the bill.
