Main Quest

The Tomb — Main Quest

The Tomb’s quest — Treyarch published no title; the in-fiction trials are the Trials of the Damned — arms the crew with Ull’s Arrow and its Sekhmet’s Vigor attachment, then runs four statue trials between the Dark Aether Nexus and the surface dig: a Vermin swarm, Parasite orb-banking, a Doppelghast spike circle and an elite Amalgam, each charge of Dark Aether energy carried home nearly untouched. The boss is the Sentinel Artifact itself, fought through nine phases of beams, decoys and possessed carriers — and immune to everything but ordinary bullets. Soloable.

The full write-up

The Tomb picks up hours after Citadelle des Morts: the same February night in 1991, the same ex-Requiem crew, and a short drive to the excavation Gabriel Krafft died pointing at. The dig is Alistair Rhodes’s doing — he funded the doomed 1908 expedition that Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe led into these catacombs chasing the Sentinel Artifact, and never led out. Archibald’s killer, a Mimic disguised as a decanter, swallowed his monocle; the map hands it back.

Down and through

Two routes descend from the Dig Site — through the Tombs and the Shrine of the Hierophants, or the Neolithic Catacombs and Ossuary — converging at the Subterranean Temple above the Deep Excavation. Past the "Doorway to Nowhere" floats the Dark Aether Nexus: a diamond of drifting rock reached by four colored portals, with a forging plinth at its peak.

Power and Pack-a-Punch

No power switch — Black Ops 6 keeps everything live from the first round. Progress runs through the Obscurus Altilium instead: set the amulet from Citadelle on the Subterranean Temple’s altar and the Nexus opens, with the Pack-a-Punch machine just beyond the portal, cycling back to the surface mausoleum from game to game.

Wonder weapon: the Staff of Ice

Origins’ Staff of Ice returns, freezing crowds and — through its restorative shot — reviving teammates at range. It comes from the box, or free by taking Archibald’s monocle from a Shock Mimic and reading the catacombs by lantern-light: two constellations, Taurus and Orion, shot symbol by symbol through lockdowns, then assembled at the Nexus altar. Its upgrade keeps the Origins name, Ull’s Arrow, and brings Sekhmet’s Vigor with it.

Special enemies

The Shock Mimic debuts — a disguise-artist whose electrified grab and radar-scrambling camouflage upgrade the family line — over a bestiary of mummified ancients, Vermin, Parasites, Doppelghasts and Amalgams. Death Perception makes its Black Ops 6 debut at a real machine in the Tombs, outlining what the walls hide.

The main quest

With Ull’s Arrow in hand, the trials begin: four Nexus statues shot with Sekhmet’s Vigor, four matching surface lockdowns, and four charges of Dark Aether energy carried home almost untouched. The boss is the prize itself — the Sentinel Artifact, fought through nine phases of beams, decoys and possessed carriers, immune to everything but honest bullets. Soloable; Weaver walks out holding the thing four maps have chased.

Story

The artifact may be the key to freeing Samantha Maxis from the Dark Aether — that hope is the official line, and S.A.M.’s encouragement should perhaps have been the warning. The intel points next at Liberty Falls and the mansion above it, where Edward Richtofen waits: Shattered Veil.
