Love and War

Love and War runs seven phases and ends in a two-stage boss fight, first alongside the original Nikolai and then against him. There is a hard clock on the reward: you have 115 minutes from the start of the game to finish and receive all perks. The quest can still be completed afterwards, but the perk reward is gone.

Walkthrough

Step by step

  1. 01

    Power the Hatchery and down the egg

    Lure a Valkyrie Drone into the Hatchery generator to destroy it, then shoot down the dragon egg.

  2. 02

    Find the humming valve

    Six valves are spread around the map; work from the one that hums to recover the Master Code Cylinder.

    Warning: Five-minute timer. Failing it resets the generator step.

  3. 03

    Crack the code

    Shoot the letters on S.O.P.H.I.A.’s spin wheels to spell KRONOS.

  4. 04

    Collect six silver trophies

    Hidden around the map; fully completing this needs Pack-a-Punch, the shield, the Gauntlet and the Dragon Strike.

  5. 05

    Complete S.O.P.H.I.A.’s six tasks

    Five arrive in random order — defusing bombs, capturing Gersh, escorting a Mangler, escorting a damaged drone, protecting a Groph Pod — and the information download is always last.

    Tip: The bomb-defusal task gives only two minutes in co-op against three in solo.

  6. 06

    Free the original Nikolai

    Take the power core S.O.P.H.I.A. provides and launch the Gauntlet’s whelp at Nikolai’s mech in Belinski Square.

  7. 07

    Fight the dragon, then the mech

    Shoot the dragon’s three weak spots as Nikolai harpoons them, then destroy the mech’s torso lights, shoulder cores and central core.

    The dragon phase is cooperative — Nikolai exposes each weak point in turn. He then turns hostile and the second phase begins immediately.
