Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Story in BO4

How Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fits the wider Zombies story — the storylines it belongs to and the maps that carry them.

Storyline

Aether Story

The founding Zombies narrative: Group 935, Element 115, the Ultimis and Primis crews, and the multiverse conflict between Edward Richtofen, Doctor Monty, and the Shadowman. It concludes with Revelations.

  • Blood of the Dead: the truth about the cycle

    Alcatraz pocket dimension

Inside the Warden’s Alcatraz pocket dimension, Primis Richtofen walks knowingly to his own death so the crew can escape with the Kronorium. The book confirms what he suspected: the cycle has run countless times, and breaking it will cost more than anyone has yet paid.

  • Tag der Toten ends the Aether story

    The saga’s final reset

Nikolai’s Grand Scheme comes together at the Siberian lighthouse: the Agarthan Device is completed with the Elemental Shard and the elder god’s blood, the Aether is sealed away, and Nikolai shares a final drink with both crews — poisoned, by his own choice, so that no version of them can start the wheel again. Samantha and Eddie walk out of the collapsing reality into a new one.

Storyline

Chaos Story

A self-contained story introduced in Black Ops 4, following the Chaos crew across ancient and mythological settings as they pursue the Sentinel Artifacts and confront the Order.

  • The Chaos crew and the Sentinel Artifacts

    1912–1918

Scarlett Rhodes and her crew chase the Sentinel Artifacts from the sinking Titanic through the arena of IX to ancient Delphi, one step ahead of the Order and its prophesied god. Black Ops 4’s support ended before the arc did — the story stops mid-journey, and no later game has picked it up.
